Bandits Show Cash Received from Kidnapping Ransom [Video]

A video depicting armed bandits showing off large sums of cash allegedly acquired from ransom payments has surfaced online, raising fresh concerns about the growing insecurity in Nigeria.

The footage was posted on Saturday by Bakatsine, a journalist who frequently reports on conflict and insecurity in Nigeria’s North‑West region.

In a tweet on his X account, he wrote: “This video shows bandits flaunting money obtained through ransom payments. May Allah bring an end to this tragedy and grant Nigeria lasting peace.”

DAILY POST reports that kidnapping for ransom has become one of Nigeria’s most pressing security challenges, especially in the North‑West and parts of the North‑Central, where armed groups have repeatedly targeted communities, travellers, schools and farmers.

Despite ongoing military operations against criminal gangs, attacks and abductions continue to be reported across several states.
