Arsenal defender Gabriel Magalhaes expressed his disappointment after missing a decisive penalty in the UEFA Champions League final loss to Paris Saint‑Germain on Saturday night.
The Gunners had seemed poised for a memorable victory after Kai Havertz gave them an early lead in the showpiece match.
However, PSG rallied and levelled when Ousmane Dembele converted a penalty following a foul by Cristhian Mosquera on Khvicha Kvaratskhelia inside the area.
With neither side able to find a winner after 120 minutes, the match was decided by a penalty shootout.
Arsenal’s hopes were shattered when Eberechi Eze missed his spot‑kick and Gabriel failed to convert the club’s fifth penalty, giving PSG the advantage.
After the heart‑breaking defeat, Gabriel posted on Instagram to share his feelings and thank supporters for standing by the team throughout the campaign.
“It’s painful, but I’m proud of this team and everything we achieved together this season,” Gabriel wrote.
“Thank you to our incredible fans for your support every step of the way. You deserve to celebrate this journey with us and enjoy the parade today! See you next season!!! Love, Big Gabi”
Despite falling short in the final, Gabriel said he remains proud of Arsenal’s season and is already looking forward to the next campaign.
