Troops Rescue Two Injured Herders After Suspected Militia Attack in Plateau

Operation Enduring Peace troops rescued two herders who were wounded in a suspected militia attack in Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau State.

The incident was reported on X by security analyst Zagazola Makama on Friday.

According to the post, the attack took place at about 5:30 pm on June 18 near the Rafin Bauna community, where the herders were allegedly assaulted while grazing their livestock.

Sector 3 troops reportedly responded quickly after receiving a distress call about the attack.

"The prompt response of troops prevented the situation from escalating and ensured the safe evacuation of the victims for urgent medical care," the source said.

When the soldiers arrived, they forced the attackers to flee and searched the surrounding area before rescuing the victims.

The injured herders were identified as Yusuf Isiaku, who suffered a gunshot wound to the shoulder, and Mubarak Lawan, who sustained minor injuries.

Both were taken immediately to a nearby hospital where they are currently receiving treatment.

Security agencies have since begun efforts to locate those responsible for the attack.
