Super Eagles watch: Why Sevilla are ready to cash in on Chidera Ejuke with Saudi Arabia bid

Sevilla could be ready to part ways with Super Eagles winger Chidera Ejuke before the new season begins, with clubs from Saudi Arabia leading the race for his signature, Afrik-Foot reports.

The Spanish club began its summer transfer business on July 1, with raising money now the biggest priority at the Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán Stadium. Sevilla need to improve their financial position while also creating room to sign new players ahead of the 2026/27 campaign.

Reports from Spain say Saudi Arabian clubs have made a serious approach for Ejuke, while teams from Qatar are also monitoring the Nigerian international. However, Saudi clubs have the financial strength to offer both Sevilla and the player a more attractive package.

The 28-year-old is also attracting interest from Europe. Bundesliga side Bayer Leverkusen have been linked with him, while Premier League club Fulham, newly-promoted Sunderland and Leeds United are all said to be keeping tabs on the former CSKA Moscow winger.

With that many competition, Sevilla are believed to value Ejuke at between €4 million and €5 million. The Nigerian has only one year left on his contract, which expires in June 2027, making this summer the club’s best chance to earn a transfer fee.

Ejuke showed flashes of quality during his first season in Spain, especially with his pace, dribbling and ability to beat defenders. One of his best performances came against Real Sociedad late last season. But injuries and inconsistent form meant he finished the campaign with just one goal and one assist in 29 La Liga appearances, preventing him from becoming a regular starter.

Ejuke: Why Sevilla would gladly accept a Saudi offer for Super Eagles star

While Ejuke’s performances have not been excellent, it is not the main reason why Sevilla are eager to see him leave.

The biggest attraction for the Spaniards is the financial reward. Since Ejuke joined Sevilla as a free agent after leaving CSKA Moscow, the club paid no transfer fee to sign him. That means any money received from his sale would count as pure profit on the club’s accounts.

A transfer worth €4 million or €5 million would immediately boost Sevilla’s finances and move them closer to their reported target of generating around €25 million through player sales this summer.

The sale would also reduce Sevilla’s wage bill. Ejuke is believed to earn close to €1.9 million per season, and removing that salary would give the club more flexibility under La Liga’s financial rules. That extra room could then be used to register new signings.

There is also the contract situation. If Sevilla keep Ejuke beyond this summer, he will enter the final months of his deal and, from January 2027, would be free to negotiate with other clubs before leaving for nothing at the end of the season. Selling him now avoids that risk completely.

Finally, the money from a Saudi deal could help sporting director Antonio Cordón and the club’s recruitment team push ahead with their rebuilding plans. Sevilla want to strengthen several positions ahead of the new campaign, and fresh transfer funds would make those plans much easier.

Unless a European club matches the financial package expected from Saudi Arabia, Sevilla are unlikely to hesitate if an official offer arrives for the Super Eagles winger.
