The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has called on the public to ignore the results that have been shared on social media regarding its nationwide primary elections held on May 28 and 29, 2026.

In a statement released on Sunday by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Osa Director Esq., the NDC clarified that the official primary results are under the custody of the National Executive Council (NEC), which alone is authorized to announce them.

“The general public is hereby urged to disregard the various results circulating on social media as the outcome of the nationwide primaries conducted by the Nigeria Democratic Congress,” the statement read.

The party noted that the NEC will convene in Abuja this week following a directive from the NDC’s National Leader, Senator Seriake Dickson.

The statement added that NEC members have been instructed to arrive in the Federal Capital Territory on Tuesday, June 2, for a pre‑NEC meeting, with the substantive NEC meeting scheduled for Wednesday, June 3.

“On the order of the National Leader of our party, His Excellency Distinguished Senator Seriake Dickson, a NEC meeting of the party has been called,” the statement said.

The NDC assured stakeholders that the official list of candidates who will contest elections under the NDC platform will be released after internal processes are completed and the list is submitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

“The general public and stakeholders will be availed of the results of our primaries when we send the list of candidates to fly our party’s flag to the INEC,” the statement added.

Meanwhile, reactions have continued to surface following the delayed announcement of the primary results.

One social media user, Dylan (@grace_speak05), claimed that Hon. Utomi Nwanne remained the leading candidate in the Delta North Senatorial primary and called for respect for what he described as the electorate’s mandate.

However, the NDC has maintained that only results officially released by the party’s NEC should be regarded as authentic.
