Iran has withdrawn from ceasefire negotiations intended to reopen the Strait of Hormuz.
State‑affiliated Tasnim News Agency announced the decision on Monday, accusing U.S. President Donald Trump of violating the ceasefire.
The Islamic Republic also stated that it will close the Strait of Hormuz and cease communications with the United States through intermediaries.
The report cited Israel’s military operations in Lebanon against the Iranian‑backed militia Hezbollah as a breach of the ceasefire with the United States.
According to the report, an Israeli ceasefire in Lebanon is a prerequisite for the Iran‑U.S. ceasefire, and that the ceasefire has now been violated on all fronts.
In a post on X, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said that Lebanon is part of the ceasefire with the U.S. and that any violation on one front constitutes a violation across all fronts.
“The United States and Israel bear responsibility for the consequences of any breach of the truce,” Iran said.
