Activist and politician Aisha Yesufu has voiced discontent with the process that led to the selection of candidates for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) senatorial ticket of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC).

Her comments came during a meeting with party officials, where she questioned how the process was handled and why she was not chosen as the party’s candidate.

Yesufu said that party leaders had promised to consult and engage with stakeholders, and she insisted those promises should be upheld.

She also revealed that she had recently learned she joined the party late, a factor she believes impacted her chances.

“I was told recently that I came in late to this party. Who does that? I have endured a lot in the last few days. My name has been dragged all over,” she said.

The activist clarified that she is not seeking special treatment; she wants a transparent process that gives all aspirants a fair opportunity.

“I am not even asking for a level playing ground, I am asking for a ground,” she stated.

According to her, she would have accepted the outcome if the process had been conducted fairly.

“I am ready to accept that I lost. If I lost fairly, I am ready to accept that I lost,” she added.

Yesufu further explained that she had refrained from publicly reacting to criticisms because she was focused on a larger goal.
