Inspector‑General of Police Olatunji Rilwan Disu has approved the promotion of 17,952 junior officers across Nigeria. The move is intended to improve personnel welfare, reward diligence, and raise professionalism within the Nigeria Police Force.
The announcement was made by the Force Public Relations Officer, DCP Anthony Okon Placid, who said the promotion exercise spans all commands and formations nationwide.
According to the statement, the promotions include 165 sergeants elevated to inspectors, 73 corporals promoted to sergeants, and 17,714 constables advanced to corporals.
IGP Disu said timely promotion is a key element of the force’s human resource strategy and a vital motivator for officers to remain committed to their constitutional duties.
He added that the elevation of deserving personnel reflects the current leadership’s commitment to merit, career progression, and institutional development. The exercise aims to strengthen morale and encourage excellence among officers.
Congratulating the newly promoted officers, IGP Disu urged them to see their promotion as a call to greater responsibility and service. He charged them to uphold the Nigeria Police Force’s core values—professionalism, discipline, integrity, and respect for human rights—in their duties.
The police chief also emphasized the importance of remaining dedicated to the rule of law and maintaining the highest standards of policing as they assume their new roles.
The Nigeria Police Force reiterated its commitment to rewarding hard work, promoting excellence, and enhancing institutional capacity in line with global best practices in law enforcement and public safety.
