Pep Guardiola, widely regarded as one of the greatest coaches in English football history, will step down as Manchester City manager after the club’s final Premier League match of the season against Aston Villa, according to the Daily Mail.

Guardiola will close a decade of success at the Etihad, during which he secured 20 trophies and positioned City among the world’s elite clubs.

The 55‑year‑old has guided City to six league titles, including an unprecedented four in a row, and led the team to its first Champions League victory.

Sources suggest that City has already informed its sponsor partners that the announcement is forthcoming, and the news has been an open secret among those close to Guardiola.

The decision is expected to be confirmed on Sunday, allowing the club to celebrate Guardiola’s impact on English football with an open‑top bus parade on Monday.

The parade will begin at Manchester’s Northern Quarter at 4 p.m. and conclude outside the Colin Bell Stand reception at the Etihad Stadium an hour later.

Rumours of Guardiola’s departure have circulated for months, as it became clear the Catalan was considering ending his tenure at City. He has one year remaining on his contract, which he has repeatedly referenced, and it is possible he may remain at the club in another role.

Leading candidates to succeed him include former Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca and Bayern Munich boss Vincent Kompany.

City won the FA Cup with a 1‑0 victory over Chelsea at Wembley on Saturday and are still competing with Arsenal for the Premier League title.

They will face Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium on Tuesday evening before the final game at the Etihad on Sunday.
