Ghana striker Brandon Thomas‑Asante voiced disappointment following the Black Stars’ 2‑1 defeat to Croatia in their final group match at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Despite the loss, Ghana advanced to the Round of 32 after the match at Philadelphia Stadium on Sunday morning.

The result left Ghana in third place in Group L, with earlier performances sufficient to secure a knockout‑stage berth.

After the match, Thomas‑Asante told FIFA.com that the team must extract positives from the result and prepare well for the knockout rounds.

“There’s a degree of disappointment in camp. We knew that there was the opportunity to win the group. That was our intention, our ambition, and there was the possibility.

“So, of course, it was disappointing. We haven’t done that, but we have to take the positive, and we’re into the next round. We want to go as far as we can in the tournament.”

Elsewhere, England secured the group’s top position with a 2‑0 win over Panama at the New York‑New Jersey Stadium.

After struggling against Panama’s disciplined defence in the first half, the Three Lions opened the scoring in the 62nd minute when Bukayo Saka set up Jude Bellingham, who calmly finished from inside the area.
