The 47th Central Bank of Nigeria Open Senior Tennis Championship is set to conclude today at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium tennis courts in Abuja.
Men’s singles: Defending champion and third‑seeded Michael Emmanuel will face Nigeria’s current No. 1 and tournament top seed, Abua Cannice, in the final. Women’s singles: Fifth‑seeded Bassey Etoro will play sixth‑seeded Ogunjobi Success in the women’s final.
Etoro reached the final by defeating Emmanuel‑Essien Bright 2‑1 (6‑0, 1‑6, 6‑4), while Ogunjobi sent the top‑seeded Mohammed Khadijat to the exit with a 2‑1 win (6‑4, 4‑6, 6‑1).
In the men’s semi‑finals, top seed Abua Cannice, who is chasing his first CBN Senior Tennis title, beat eighth‑seeded Yusuf Abubakar in straight sets, 6‑3, 6‑4. The defending champion Michael Emmanuel overcame Jimoh Joseph 2‑6, 6‑4, 6‑1 to set up the final clash with Cannice.
