Egypt secured its first victory of the 2026 FIFA World Cup on Monday morning, becoming the fourth African nation to win a match in the tournament.

The North Africans rallied from a goal down to defeat New Zealand 3‑1 in their second Group G encounter at BC Place in Vancouver.

Scorers Mostafa Ziko, Mohamed Salah and Trezeguet gave the Pharaohs all three points against the Kiwis.

Prior to the New Zealand game, Egypt had drawn 1‑1 with Belgium in its World Cup opener a few days earlier.

According to DAILY POST, the other African teams that have recorded a win at the current World Cup are Ivory Coast, Ghana and Morocco.

Ivory Coast was the first African side to win a match, beating Ecuador 1‑0 in its opening game last week.

Ghana became the second African nation to win a match, defeating Panama 1‑0 in its first game.

Morocco was the third, securing a 1‑0 victory over Scotland in its second Group C match.

Senegal, Cape Verde, DR Congo, Algeria, South Africa and Tunisia have yet to win a match.
