Arsenal are preparing to finalize a new contract for manager Mikel Arteta, whose current agreement is set to expire at the end of next season.
It is expected that the final details will not be completed until Arteta returns from holiday.
Initial discussions have reportedly progressed positively, suggesting that the renewal is a matter of timing rather than uncertainty for the 44‑year‑old.
According to BBC Sport, the new deal would be a fresh three‑year contract with a significant increase in his wages.
Arteta currently earns £10 million per season, plus an additional £5 million for Champions League qualification.
The updated contract would make him the highest‑paid manager in England after Pep Guardiola’s decision to leave Manchester City.
Guardiola’s previous deal was worth a minimum of £20 million per season, and Arteta’s new earnings would bring him much closer to his compatriot’s pay level.
