The intruders forced a window and stole cash, jewelry and tennis racquets, but left untouched his most valuable items, including the 2009 US Open trophy, his Olympic medals and a Davis Cup replica.
This is not the first time the retired Argentine has been targeted; in 2013 his luggage was stolen in Paris, which contained a rosary given by Pope Francis.
Del Potro, 37, retired in 2022 after a career largely hampered by injuries. He is best known for winning the 2009 US Open and for his successful, though interrupted, professional career.
