Argentina coach Scaloni says he'll bench Messi in the 2026 World Cup match against Jordan.

Argentina head coach Lionel Scaloni has announced that he will keep captain Lionel Messi on the bench for the team's final 2026 World Cup group match against Jordan.

The champions have already secured a spot in the Round of 32, following wins over Algeria and Austria.

Messi has netted all five goals for Scaloni’s side in the tournament.

However, the Inter Miami star will be rested as the knockout stages approach.

“The hope is that the team will play the same way. That’s what we’re going to try to do,” Scaloni said.

“Jordan is a good opponent, and we’re not taking anything for granted.”

“We’ll try to tweak some aspects of the last match, but with the same intention of controlling the ball and dominating the opponent.”
