Adamawa State to Hold Council Elections on June 13

The Adamawa State Independent Electoral Commission (ADSIEC) has announced that it is ready to conduct the local government elections scheduled for June 13.

According to the commission, the vote will take place across all 21 local government areas in the state.

Zenald Zidon Love, the Commissioner of Public Affairs, Planning and Strategy, told reporters in Yola that the ADSIEC has finalized all preparations in accordance with the Electoral Act.

“All election materials are ready, ad‑hoc staff have been recruited, and security agencies have been fully integrated into the process, including the screening of candidates,” Zidon Love said.

He added that a joint meeting with security agencies is set for June 8, 2026, at the ADSIEC Secretariat to finalize security arrangements.

The election timetable indicates that campaigning, which officially began on May 1, 2026, will conclude on June 11, 2026. Results are expected to be announced between June 13 and June 14, 2026, with a possible rerun scheduled for June 20, 2026.

The ADSIEC spokesperson confirmed that 11 political parties have been cleared to contest the polls, including the Young Progressive Party (YPP), New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), and Social Democratic Party (SDP).

The other parties are the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Labour Party (LP), African Democratic Congress (ADC), All Peoples Party (APP), All Progressives Congress (APC), Allied Peoples Movement (APM), Boot Party (BP), and Accord Party (AP).
