2027: Sokoto APC affirms Aliyu as governorship candidate

Members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Sokoto State have confirmed Governor Ahmed Aliyu as the party’s candidate for the 2027 governorship election.

The decision was made on Thursday during the APC’s governorship primary in Sokoto. Delegates and stakeholders representing the state’s 244 wards and 23 local government areas endorsed the governor through a consensus arrangement.

Alhaji Mukhtar Birniwa, Chairman of the APC Electoral Committee, said the peaceful outcome reflected unity among party members across the state.

Birniwa explained that the committee’s task was eased by the consensus already achieved at the ward level.

“The party members across the 244 wards have spoken with one voice in support of Governor Ahmed Aliyu. What we have done here today is to formally affirm that decision,” he said.

He then declared Aliyu the APC’s candidate for the 2027 governorship election in Sokoto State.

After the affirmation, Governor Aliyu thanked party members and supporters for the confidence placed in him.

He pledged to continue implementing programmes and projects aimed at improving the welfare of residents if re‑elected in 2027.
