Accra 2026: Nigeria Places Fourth In Overall Medals Standings

At the 2026 African Senior Athletics Championships in Accra, Ghana, Nigeria finished fourth in the overall medal table, according to Completesports.com.

The West African country earned a total of 12 medals: four gold, five silver, and three bronze.

Nigeria’s final gold came in the women’s 4×400 m relay final on Sunday.

The relay team—Esther Okon, Toheebat Jimoh, Jecinter Lawrence, and Patience Okon‑George—completed the race in 3:29.25 to secure the victory.

South Africa retained its championship title in Ghana, winning 20 medals: nine gold, three silver, and eight bronze.

Kenya and Ethiopia were the only other nations that finished ahead of Nigeria in the standings.
