American rapper Nicki Minaj has discussed how her ascent to international fame influenced her attendance at church, stating that while she no longer attends regularly, her faith remains intact.
In a recent episode of The Bryce Crawford Podcast, the award‑winning artist explained that the demands of her music career, particularly the late‑night performances on Friday and Saturday evenings, left her too exhausted to attend Sunday services.
“Once my career started taking off, I stopped going to church. I was working on Friday nights and Saturday nights, so the last thing I could do was wake up on Sunday mornings to go to church,” Minaj said.
She emphasized that this change did not equate to abandoning her spirituality. Instead, she maintains a personal connection with God and continues to pursue spiritual growth amid the pressures of celebrity life.
Minaj noted that maintaining consistency has been difficult, yet she believes her faith has deepened over time as she navigates the challenges of the entertainment industry.
She also described the music business as a place of “constant spiritual warfare,” suggesting that talented artists who refuse to comply with industry demands are often sidelined. She reflected that her success exposed her to battles she had not anticipated when she first entered the field.
“I wish I would have known sooner that this music industry was such a spiritual experience,” she added, concluding that her journey has reinforced her belief in God and the importance of ongoing spiritual development.
