Denrele Edun, a Nigerian media personality and actor, explained why he symbolically “married himself” during celebrations for his 45th birthday.

Born Adenrele Oluwafemi Edun, the flamboyant entertainer drew social media attention after posting a video announcing that he had married himself.

Denrele said the act was meant to celebrate self‑love, resilience, and the many facets of himself that have survived life’s challenges.

“Till death didn’t do us part. So I married myself. After 45 years of chaos, glitter, survival, reinvention, controversy, resilience, heartbreak and triumph, I remain the greatest love story I’ve ever known,” he said in the video.

Reflecting on his journey through fame, personal struggles, and successes, the television personality said he chose to honor the one person who has remained with him at every stage of his life.
