Two candidates on the All Progressives Congress (APC) platform are currently in dispute over who legitimately won the primary for the Ibadan North West/Ibadan South West Federal Constituency.

The contenders are Folake Olunloyo‑Osinlowo and Rotimi Ajanaku.

The candidates were Kazeem Abimbola Abogun, Rotimi Ajanaku, Folake Olunloyo, Biodun Ikumogunniyi, Tobi Dollar, Demola Alawuje and Taoheed Bolaji Adeleke.

Since the election, Olunloyo‑Osinlowo and Ajanaku have both claimed victory.

Our correspondent noted that Olunloyo‑Osinlowo has been thanking supporters for allegedly electing her and has posted on social media that the results in her possession confirm her win.

Ajanaku has also asserted that he won the primary.

A party chieftain, speaking on Sunday, confirmed that both individuals have been circulating claims of victory.

The APC chieftain in Ibadan North West, who requested anonymity, said, “That is how we see it. The election was conducted on Saturday but two people, Folake Olunloyo‑Osinlowo and Rotimi Ajanaku, have been claiming to have won the election. You know it is one ticket, how can two people be claiming one ticket? I don’t know how the party will resolve the problem.”

As of the time this report was filed on Monday, both candidates continued to insist that they had won the primary.
