Afrobeat singer and son of legendary Fela Kuti, Made Kuti, has explained his approach to marriage proposals and the reasoning behind it.
The 30‑year‑old revealed that he did not kneel when he asked his wife, Inedoye Onyenso, to marry him, saying he believes a proposal should be a mutual decision rather than one person begging on their knees.
Made Kuti made the comments during an episode of the Timeless Podcast, which recently aired on the Nix Network YouTube channel.
“I did not go down on my knees when proposing to my wife because I told her it was a mutual decision. We are not begging each other to be with each other,” he said.
Made Kuti and Inedoye Onyenso were married in a private ceremony in Lagos in November 2023.
The singer noted that Inedoye was his former “school daughter.”
In 2025, Made addressed accusations that he and his wife, an Igbo, were “mixing blood” because of their different ethnic backgrounds.
The music star described ethnic bigotry as “slave mentality.”
