The Super Falcons secured a 2‑1 win over Senegal in a friendly on Friday, with star forward Asisat Oshoala using the occasion to address the Nigerian federal government, according to Afrik‑Foot.
The 10‑time African champions played at the Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne as part of their buildup for the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations.
Entering the match as favorites, Nigeria showed their quality early. Veteran striker Oshoala opened the scoring from the penalty spot in the 32nd minute, and Toni Payne doubled the lead just before halftime.
Senegal’s Teranga Lionesses pulled a consolation goal in the 86th minute, but the Super Falcons held on for the victory.
While the team still has room to improve their clinical finishing, the performance was encouraging.

Although Oshoala’s goal drew the spotlight, it was her celebration that captured attention. After scoring from the spot, she ran to the corner flag and held up a wristband to the camera that read: “Save the teachers. Bring back our children.”
After scoring the opening goal in the international friendly match between the Super Falcons of Nigeria and Senegal, the greatest African female footballer of all time — Asisat Oshoala — delivered a powerful message.

Her message highlights the kidnapping of 46 people in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State. On May 15, armed gunmen on motorcycles raided three schools—Baptism Nursery and Primary School (Yawota), Community Grammar School (Esiele), and L.A. Primary School (Ahoro‑Esinele)—and abducted 39 students and seven teachers, killing two staff members during the attack.
Reports indicate that some of the kidnapped children are as young as five. The incident has sparked protests and strikes across the Southwest region, and the government’s response has been slow. Oshoala’s message aims to keep the issue in the public eye and to urge the safe return of the captives.
