South Africa’s coach Hugo Broos explained why his side won 1‑0 against South Korea at the World Cup.

Broos watched the 1‑0 victory on Thursday, which came from Thapelo Maseko’s second‑half goal.

The result sends the Bafana Bafana into the round of 32, where they will face co‑host Canada this weekend.

In a post‑match interview, Broos said his team performed strongly on a tactical level and that South Korea was unable to find the spaces they sought.

“We played really well and created chances. Tactically, we did really well, and the Korea Republic couldn’t find the spaces that they wanted,” Broos said as quoted by FIFA’s website.

“We scored the goal, and then it was 20 minutes with a very high heart rate. What we did in the last five years is amazing.

“When you work together for such a long time, there is a connection, and it is more than a relationship between coach and players; we have become friends. We just have to enjoy this.”
