Egypt winger Mohamed Salah expressed his joy after his team secured their first victory in the ongoing FIFA World Cup.
Salah scored in Egypt’s 3‑1 win over New Zealand early this morning.
The result positions Egypt at the top of Group G, having earned four points from two matches.
They are ahead of Iran, Belgium and New Zealand in the standings.
In a post‑match interview quoted on FIFA’s website, Salah said, “It’s incredible.”
“I don’t know how to express it in words. It’s a great achievement for all the players, for the staff, so hopefully we can carry on like this in the group, and we can write history and qualify, and in years to come it will be remembered as one of the best achievements in the history of Egyptian football.”
“We have to enjoy today, enjoy tomorrow, then focus on the next game.”
