The Adamawa State Police Command has seized 117 vehicles that were found to be operating without registration plates or with plates that were concealed, altered, or defaced.
The operation was carried out by a special task force formed by the State Commissioner of Police, CP Kabiru Hassan, as part of a nationwide effort to target defaulters.
According to Police Public Relations Officer SP Suleiman Nguroje, the owners of the seized vehicles were prosecuted in accordance with existing laws.
Nguroje told DAILY POST on Saturday night that using unregistered or improperly identified vehicles poses serious security risks.
He added that such conduct undermines efforts to gather intelligence and prevent crime.
Nguroje also quoted the Commissioner of Police, who said that the search for irregular number plates is an ongoing activity.
“Violators will continue to face arrest, prosecution, and other legal sanctions as provided by the law,” the commissioner warned.
