The Plateau State Police Command detained 25 individuals during a coordinated raid on known drug‑hotspots in Jos, the state capital.

The operation focused on areas around Old Airport Junction and Fwavei Junction, which police have identified as prominent centers for the sale and distribution of illegal drugs.

Police Public Relations Officer SP Alfred Alabo said the raid took place on Saturday evening at about 7:55 p.m.

He added that the raid was led by a joint security team from the Violence Crime Response Unit (VCRU) and was supported by officers from the Anglo‑Jos Division, the Anti‑Cybercrime and Narcotic Unit, the Monitoring Unit, and the Eagle Eye Patrol Team.

SP Alabo reported that 25 suspects were arrested and that cannabis, controlled drugs, and other prohibited substances were seized.

“The exercise was successful, and a number of illicit substances were seized from the suspects,” the statement read.

The Command said investigations are continuing to determine the suspects’ level of involvement and to uncover any links to broader criminal networks.

Commissioner of Police CP Bassey Ewah praised the officers involved in the raid and commended their dedication to combating drug‑related crime in the state.
