The Akwa Ibom State Police command has arraigned Akaninyene Udo, better known as “AK Philo,” for allegedly distributing misleading security information.

Udo, a social media influencer, reportedly posted a threatening message accompanied by an image of an armed bandit, captioned “Eket get ready for us.”

Speaking to journalists in Uyo on Wednesday, Commissioner of Police CP Baba Azare said that after an investigation the suspect was charged and subsequently detained in a correctional centre.

CP Azare warned that creating, publishing or spreading false security alerts that could cause public alarm is a criminal offence, and that those found guilty will face legal action.

The commissioner also announced that police have re‑arrested Musa Idris, a suspected receiver and distributor of stolen phones, with 34 assorted Android phones linked to robberies both within and outside the state.

Idris was apprehended along the Calabar–Itu Road axis after credible intelligence. Investigations revealed that the suspect had previously been arrested in October 2025 for offences related to armed robbery and possession of more than 200 stolen Android phones.

CP Azare added that the command has begun a crackdown on vehicle registration regulations in the state.
