Nine people killed when bandits launch new attack on Kaduna community

Suspected bandits killed nine people and injured eleven others in the Unguwar Magaji community, located in the Kamaru Ward of Kauru Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

The spokesperson for the Irigwe Youth Movement, Joseph Yonkpa, confirmed the incident on Wednesday.

Initial reports said two people had been killed in the attack.

Yonkpa said that subsequent search and recovery operations uncovered seven additional bodies, raising the death toll to nine.

The attackers allegedly used firearms during the assault and also targeted children with machetes, leaving residents deeply traumatized.

The victims were identified as Jerry Doctor, Danlami Magani, Sunday Chibi, Rita Abdullahi, Sunday Elkan, Esther Kefas, Happy Friday, Moses Daddy, and Daddy Ibrahim.

The injured were identified as Halla Monday, Mary Yohanna, Jummai John, Charity Danjuma, Faith Yakubu, Omi Yakubu, Ali Sandiye, Asabe Victor, Srarina Simon, Talatu Sunday, and ThankGod Danladi.

At the time of filing this report, the Kaduna State Police Command had not issued a statement on the incident.

Communities in Kaduna State have recently faced bandit attacks that have resulted in deaths and kidnappings.
