The Police Command in Ondo State has confirmed that there has been no security breach, terrorist threat, or incident that could cause panic in Odigbo Local Government Area.
This information was released to reporters on Tuesday in Akure by DSP Abayomi Jimoh, the command’s spokesperson.
The statement noted that no credible intelligence indicates an imminent threat to public safety in Odigbo or nearby communities.
“The Commissioner of Police in the state, Felix Ohagwu, has instructed all Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers, tactical commanders, and intelligence units to maintain heightened surveillance, intelligence gathering, and visible policing throughout the state,” the statement read.
“Particularly, schools, public facilities, critical national assets, and other vulnerable locations should be secured,” it added.
Residents and students are urged to stay calm and continue their lawful daily activities without fear.
“The security framework within Odigbo LGA and across the state remains robust and effective, while security agencies continue to monitor developments and respond proactively to any emerging concerns,” the statement said.
“Misinformation and unverified reports can create unnecessary panic and anxiety among the public,” it warned.
Citizens are advised to rely only on information released through official channels and to refrain from spreading rumours that could undermine public confidence and security.
The Commissioner of Police urged residents to remain vigilant and to support security agencies by providing timely and credible information.
He reiterated that security is a collective responsibility and that public cooperation is essential to sustaining the peace currently enjoyed across the state.
The statement concluded that the command remains fully committed to protecting lives and property and will work closely with relevant stakeholders to maintain law and order and public safety throughout the state.
