Super Eagles head coach Éric Chelle has called for more effort from his squad after the 2‑0 win over Zimbabwe, according to Completesports.com.

Nigeria beat the Warriors in the Unity Cup semi‑final at The Valley on Tuesday night.

Azeez Steals Show For Super Eagles

Femi Azeez was the match‑winner, scoring twice to propel the three‑time African champions into the final, where they will face either Jamaica or Iran.

The 24‑year‑old, who plays for Millwall FC in the English Championship, opened the scoring five minutes in with a left‑footed rocket that Zimbabwe goalkeeper Future Sibanda could not stop.

Alhassan Yusuf, Tochukwu Nnadi and Philip Otele all had chances to extend Nigeria’s lead.

Azeez added a second goal in the 62nd minute after a quick team move; Otele found Terem Moffi, who in turn set up the Millwall striker in the penalty area.

Moffi also supplied the assist for the opening goal.

Chelle Demands More From Players

Chelle expects a higher standard from his side in the final.

“This is only a friendly game. This is not the World Cup qualifier. They need to work hard,” Chelle said in a post‑match interview at The Valley.

“They need to try to understand what I want, what the technical staff want and the high level is difficult.”

“So you see, we made some mistakes with the ball. For sure, you see tomorrow we will work it out during training,” he added.

The Super Eagles will face the winner of Wednesday’s second semi‑final between last year’s runners‑up Jamaica and India in Saturday’s final at The Valley.
