The Anambra State Police Command has taken four individuals into custody in connection with two separate criminal investigations: one involving the alleged murder of a young woman and another concerning the abuse of a 10‑year‑old boy.

According to a statement released Monday, Police Public Relations Officer SP Tochukwu Ikenga said that three suspects—Chukwudi Chukwuyere, Chisom Chukwuyere and Arum Goodluck—are being held for the alleged abuse of the child in Odume Layout, Isiowulu.

The statement added that the principal suspect, Chisom Chukwuyere, admitted during interrogation that he had used burning plastics to inflict injuries on the boy.

“The victim is still receiving medical treatment, while investigators are gathering evidence to ensure diligent prosecution of the suspects,” Ikenga said.

Eyewitnesses claimed the boy lived under a guardian who repeatedly abused him, as shown in a viral video and photographs that have circulated on social media.

In the separate case, police have also arrested 33‑year‑old Ifechukwu Okechukwu on allegations that he murdered and secretly buried his 23‑year‑old girlfriend in Nkpor, Anambra State.

Investigations into both incidents are ongoing.

The command praised residents for their vigilance and the timely information they provided, noting that public cooperation remains essential for uncovering criminal activity and assisting security agencies in apprehending suspects.

“We appreciate the support of residents whose prompt information has helped security agencies uncover crimes and bring offenders to justice,” the statement added.
