Kebbi declares Tuesday public holiday for Islamic New Year

The Kebbi State Government has declared Tuesday, June 16, 2026, a public holiday to celebrate the start of the Islamic New Year, 1448 AH.

Governor Nasir Idris approved the declaration, as stated in a circular issued by the Ministry of Establishment, Pension and Training.

The circular, dated June 9, 2026, was signed by the ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Hajiya Hafsat Ibrahim Tune, acting on behalf of the Commissioner. It instructed all public servants in the state to observe the holiday in observance of the new Islamic calendar year.

In its announcement, the state government extended congratulations to the Muslim Ummah and encouraged residents to use the occasion to pray for lasting peace, unity, prosperity, and continued development of Kebbi State and Nigeria.

The government also noted that normal official activities would resume on Wednesday, June 17, 2026.
