Nasarawa Amazons In Control
Nasarawa Amazons moved to the top of the Nigeria Women Football League Super Six playoffs table after a 2-1 win over defending champions Bayelsa Queens on Matchday Two in Port Harcourt on Monday.
The first half saw both teams create numerous chances, but neither side managed to score before the break.
Bayelsa Queens opened the scoring six minutes into the second half when Chiamaka Ezekwugo found the back of the net.
However, Nasarawa Amazons staged a dramatic comeback, earning all three points. Farikikyen Moses levelled the match in the 80th minute, and Ayatsea Hembafan sealed the victory with a stoppage‑time goal, completing a memorable turnaround for Christopher Danjuma’s side.
With six points from two games, Nasarawa Amazons now sit atop the standings.
Abia Angels Stun Rivers Angels
Debutants Abia Angels shocked former champions Rivers Angels with a 1-0 victory, moving them into second place on the table.
David scored the decisive goal for Abia Angels in the 26th minute of the closely contested match.
A solid defensive display, supported by a series of excellent saves from the goalkeeper, allowed Abia Angels to withstand sustained pressure and keep Rivers Angels at bay.
Edo Queens Put On A Show
2024 champions Edo Queens delivered the biggest win of the day, defeating FC Robo Queens 4-1.
Moses Aduku’s side took control early, with Chioma Moses scoring twice in the first half to establish a commanding lead.
The team continued to dominate after the break, as Precious Oscar added a third goal just before the hour mark.
Mary Mamudu extended the advantage to 4-0 in the 63rd minute, underscoring the Benin City club’s superiority.
FC Robo Queens managed a consolation goal when Florence Godwin Freda reduced the deficit four minutes from time.
