NSCDC operatives from the Edo State Command arrested Esosa Godsent Osagie on allegations of stealing approximately 60 litres of diesel from a telecommunications facility in the state.

Public Relations Officer Efosa Ogbebor told reporters in Benin City on Monday, June 15, 2026, that the diesel was taken from an IHS Towers facility in Utesi, a suburb of the Edo State capital.

He added that the arrest occurred on June 13, 2026, after repeated theft reports at the facility.

The operation was carried out jointly by the command’s security team and local vigilantes.

The command had received reports of repeated thefts at the facility; acting on intelligence, it apprehended the suspect through collaboration between its security team and local vigilantes.

Preliminary investigations are underway to verify the suspect’s statements and identify any accomplices, he said.

The NSCDC image maker reiterated the state command’s resolve, under State Commandant Akintayo Saidi Ayinla, to continue intelligence‑driven operations against criminal elements.

He added that the command would persist until all economic saboteurs are identified, apprehended, and brought to justice through due process.

Ogbebor urged residents to stay vigilant and continue providing credible information to security agencies to strengthen efforts to protect critical national assets across the state.
