Lobi Stars have appointed experienced coach Bala Nikyu as their new technical adviser ahead of the 2026/27 Nigeria National League, NNL, season.
Nikyu has been handed the responsibility of leading the Makurdi-based club back to the Nigeria Premier Football League, NPFL, after they narrowly missed out on promotion last season.
The veteran tactician boasts a wealth of coaching experience, having previously managed several top Nigerian clubs, including Wikki Tourists, Plateau United and Gombe United.

At the international level, he also had a spell in charge of Nigeria’s U-17 women’s national team, the Flamingos, further strengthening his coaching credentials.
Lobi Stars will be banking on Nikyu’s vast experience to spearhead their promotion push as they aim for an immediate return to the top flight.
The Alia Boys were relegated from the NPFL at the end of the 2024/25 campaign and fell just short of securing a swift comeback during the 2025/26 NNL season.
