The race for Nigerian wonderkid Zadok Yohanna has now become a straight battle between two Premier League clubs, with Newcastle United entering the fray with a superior offer to Brighton for the highly-rated AIK winger.
Reports in Sweden claim Newcastle have tabled a bid worth €24 million, surpassing Brighton’s proposal of around €22-23 million as both clubs intensify their pursuit of the 18-year-old sensation.
AIK are currently in negotiations with both Brighton & Hove Albion and Newcastle United for Yohanna.
Yohanna Labels As Big Prospect
Signed from Nigeria’s Ikon Allah Football Academy last year, Yohanna has enjoyed an impressive start to life at AIK, contributing five goals and four assists in 12 appearances for the Swedish outfit.

The winger was initially brought in to AIK’s Under-19s but was quickly promoted to the first-team squad after impressing at youth level.
‘He (Yohanna) has an impressive array of strengths, including his dribbling, close-range technique, outstanding one-on-one ability and a sensitive left foot,’ said Fredrik Wisur Hansen, AIK’s scouting manager.
The transfer is set to become the most expensive sale in Allsvenskan history, surpassing the €14 million (£12.6 million) fee Hoffenheim paid Hammarby for Bazoumana Toure last year.
AIK are expected to announce the 18-year-old’s next destination later this week.
