Romelu Lukaku voiced his disappointment over Belgium’s result in their World Cup 2026 match against Iran.

Belgium, coached by Rudi Garcia, were held to a 0‑0 draw by Iran in their second tournament match, played Sunday night.

The Red Devils remain without a win, having drawn 1‑1 with Egypt in their opening Group G match.

At the Los Angeles Stadium, Belgium controlled nearly 70 % of possession and produced 23 shots, yet could not penetrate Iran’s resilient defence.

Lukaku Points Way Forward

“We have to stay with the emotions, stay calm and keep our composure,” Lukaku said to FIFA.

“That is something that we have to improve on, I think the players know that as well.”

No Margin For Error Against New Zealand

Belgium must now win their last group game against New Zealand to have a chance of progressing to the Round of 32.

“Desire and commitment to the cause,” Lukaku said about what they need to bring to the table against the All Whites.

“It’s a World Cup, it’s the biggest tournament, the biggest stage. We don’t want to go home. We want to go as far as possible and we want to put ourselves in the greatest position. Let’s go for it!”
