KADUNA — Over the last fortnight, the Kaduna State Police Command detained 25 individuals suspected of involvement in kidnapping, murder, armed robbery, car theft and drug trafficking during a series of coordinated operations across the state.

Commissioner of Police Muhammad Rabiu announced the arrests at a press briefing in Kaduna on Monday, explaining that the actions were the result of intelligence‑driven operations and collaboration with other agencies.

Among those taken into custody were 12 alleged kidnappers, 13 persons connected to culpable homicide, and four suspected car snatchers.

Police also seized four stolen vehicles and intercepted 2,700 sachets of Tramadol in separate operations in Kaduna and Zaria.

One significant development was the arrest of six suspected kidnappers in Sagamu, Ogun State, after intelligence indicated the movement of illicit firearms across state borders. The suspects were identified as Bukar Bulama, Abubakar Mohammad, Mohammad Usman, Ibrahim Sani, Aliyu Usman and Dan Bello Umaru.

A search of their hideout uncovered two AK‑47 rifles, a pump‑action gun, a locally fabricated pistol, 10 rounds of 9mm ammunition and four cartridges.

In Zaria, the Anti‑Kidnapping Unit detained Yahya Alhaji Yusuf, who reportedly confessed to kidnapping, banditry, cattle rustling and armed robbery. An AK‑47 rifle was recovered from him.

The command also apprehended suspected serial fraudster Usama Tijjani, who is accused of defrauding more than 200 women and stealing valuables such as jewellery and mobile phones. The items seized were valued at over N30 million.

Rabiu added that 13 suspects were arrested in connection with the killing of two people in Kagarko Local Government Area, where allegations of witchcraft‑related accusations and mob violence were cited. The arrests followed a joint investigation into criminal conspiracy, culpable homicide and incitement of public disturbance.

Two suspected drug traffickers, Jamilu Ahmed and Mubarak Ibrahim, were also intercepted while allegedly transporting 2,700 sachets of Tramadol within the Zaria metropolis.

Four suspected car thieves were arrested and their stolen vehicles recovered, including a Volkswagen Golf III, a Toyota Corolla LE and a Hyundai Sonata.

Rabiu reiterated the command’s commitment to ongoing operations against kidnapping, banditry, armed robbery, drug trafficking and vehicle theft. He thanked the Inspector‑General of Police for support and praised Governor Uba Sani and the Kaduna State Government for backing security agencies.

He also thanked residents for providing timely intelligence and urged continued cooperation to enhance security across the state.
