Nigerian Army troops engaged suspected terrorist elements during a patrol in Kebbi State, recovering weapons and other items after a brief firefight.

The incident was reported on X on Monday by security analyst Zagazola Makama.

According to Makama, soldiers from the 1 Brigade, operating out of Forward Operating Base Kyangakwai, conducted a fighting patrol toward Dogon Daji in Dandi Local Government Area on June 14 at about 11 a.m.

During the patrol, the soldiers reportedly encountered suspected Lakurawa terrorist elements and immediately engaged them in a brief exchange of fire.

“After the clash, the troops recovered one rocket‑propelled grenade tube, three explosive devices, two motorcycles, and other items left behind by the fleeing suspects,” Makama wrote.

The report added that the troops continued to patrol the area to prevent the terrorists from regrouping and to maintain control of the region.
