Joe Igbokwe, a senior official of the All Progressives Congress, expressed deep shame after the backlash against President Bola Tinubu’s wife, Remi Tinubu, that erupted on social media following a viral video.
According to DAILY POST, Nigerian youths flooded the internet with angry comments after the First Lady’s brief advice on petty trade went viral.
During an event, Remi encouraged Nigerians to start small and medium enterprises, noting that commercial frying of Akara is straightforward.
However, the suggestion was poorly received; netizens accused the First Lady of failing to generate employment for the country’s unemployed youth.
In response, Igbokwe posted on Facebook on Saturday, criticizing the online crowd and questioning why the First Lady was targeted for offering what he described as sincere guidance.
He wrote, “This generation frightens me to the marrows. An honest advice HE Oluremi Tinubu gave to young Nigerians on how to help themselves has become a tool to abuse and to pour invectives.
“Social Media has become a tool to unleash scurrilous drivels even when the truth is spoken.
“We will learn las las. See the empty heads and headless mobs dancing naked in the public space left and right. Awon werey everywhere. Shame has enveloped me.”
