Trump threatens 100% tariff on European countries imposing digital taxes

President Donald Trump has warned that the United States will impose a 100% import tariff on any European nation that levies a tax on digital services provided by U.S. companies.

The announcement came in a post on Trump’s Truth Social account on Friday.

He said that several European countries were considering a digital services tax targeting American firms.

“Please let this statement serve to represent that any country that imposes such a tax will immediately be met with a 100% tariff on any and all goods sent to the United States of America,” Trump wrote.

The president added that the tariff would be applied immediately and would override any existing trade agreements with the affected country.
