Kelechi Iheanacho has said he wants to stay at Celtic beyond this summer, Completesports.com reports.

The Nigeria international joined the Scottish Premiership champions on a free transfer last summer after leaving Spanish club Sevilla.

Iheanacho signed a one‑year contract with Celtic, with the club holding an option to extend it for an additional year.

The 29‑year‑old’s future is uncertain after an injury‑plagued campaign marked by recurring hamstring problems.

Despite the setbacks, the striker made a notable contribution, netting nine goals in 24 appearances across all competitions for the Hoops.

He is now awaiting further communication from the club about his next steps.

“I hope I’m still a Celtic player at the start of next season, but I leave that to the club to sort out,” Iheanacho told Premier Sports.

Celtic defeated Dunfermline Athletic 3‑1 at Hampden Park on Saturday afternoon to win the Scottish Cup.

It was a fitting end to the season for Martin O’Neill’s side, who clinched the Premiership title in dramatic fashion last weekend with a late winner against Hearts.

On Scottish Cup Success

Iheanacho came off the bench to score Celtic’s third goal of the game.

The striker expressed his delight at contributing to the team’s success this season.

“I feel good, it’s my first Scottish Cup. It was a great season, and we are really happy with what happened this season,” he added.

“This is a proud moment for the club, and the fans. It’s a moment we will cherish for a long time. I think what happened this season will be well remembered by everyone. We are happy to be celebrating with our fans.”

“The season has been crazy, to be fair. I have been here for 10 months, and won two trophies. I’m excited for the fans, and my family.”
