The Federal Government has announced that it is intensifying efforts to secure the release of schoolchildren and teachers who were abducted in Oyo and Borno states, calling the rescue operation a top national priority.
Information and National Orientation Minister Mohammed Idris made the statement during a security briefing in Abuja, emphasizing that the government is treating the incident with urgency.
Idris described the kidnappings as a serious threat to Nigeria’s education system and to the country’s future, noting that security agencies have been fully deployed for rescue operations under the directive of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
He added that the administration remains committed to ensuring the safe return of all victims and to bringing those responsible to justice.
“The President has made it clear that no child belongs in captivity and that no effort will be spared,” he said.
The minister further stated: “To the families whose children and loved ones remain in captivity, I convey the assurances of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.”
President Tinubu has also directed a robust response from security agencies as efforts continue to track down the abductors.
