Before the 2027 general elections, Sunday Ebitare Thompson, a grassroots mobilizer for the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC) in Bayelsa State, has resigned from the party.

The resignation was formalized in a letter dated 27 June 2026 and addressed to the NDC chairman in Ward 13, Shagbama Local Government Area of Bayelsa State.

Ebitare had left the All Progressives Congress (APC) on 17 May 2026 and joined the NDC together with his supporters.

In the resignation letter, which DAILY POST saw on Sunday, Ebitare wrote, “I hereby formerly resign and withdraw my membership from the Nigerian Democratic Congress, NDC effective immediately.”

“I appreciate the opportunity to have been a part of the party and wish the NDC success in its future endeavors.”
