Bashir Ahmad, a former presidential media aide and chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), warned that Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC), and his running mate Rabiu Kwankwaso should be concerned about the party’s potential deregistration.

According to DAILY POST, the Federal High Court in Lokoja, Kogi State, overturned its earlier ruling that had instructed the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to register the NDC as a political party.

The decision came after the Peace Movement Party (PMP) filed an application requesting that the December 2025 judgment be nullified, citing its absence from the original lawsuit.

Justice Isah Dashen, in his judgment, stated that all interested parties must be heard before any substantive ruling could be issued.

Bashir replied on his official X account, warning Obi and Kwankwaso that they lack a legally recognised platform to contest the upcoming election.

He wrote, “Sen. Rabiu Kwankwaso and Peter Obi have every reason to be worried.”

“As things stand today, they have no legally recognised platform to pursue their political ambitions, as the NDC is not recognised by law.”
