President Bola Tinubu celebrated the 59th birthday of Oando Plc's Group Chief Executive, Adewale Tinubu, acknowledging his significant influence on Nigeria’s energy industry.

Presidential spokesman Bayo Onanuga reported that the President expressed his joy in celebrating Forbes’s designation of Adewale Tinubu as the “African King of Oil,” noting how the entrepreneur’s innovative approach turned Oando from a petroleum marketing firm into a fully integrated energy group covering upstream, midstream, and downstream activities.

The President highlighted the economic benefits of Tinubu’s investments, which have generated employment for thousands of Nigerians and led to landmark transactions, including the acquisition of ConocoPhillips assets and the company’s historic listings on both the South African and Nigerian stock exchanges.

He praised Adewale Tinubu for advancing the government’s local content policy, encouraging indigenous firms to engage in the oil and gas sector and for taking proactive measures in environmental protection.

Tinubu also recognized Adewale’s vision in founding the Oando Foundation in 2011, which now supports over 88 schools nationwide and promotes community development and environmental sustainability.

The President concluded by praying for the health and prosperity of Adewale Tinubu and his family.
