Chibuike Amaechi, the presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), expressed confidence that the party’s national primary would be conducted with the same standards of freedom, fairness and credibility that guided the process in his ward in Ubima community, Ikwerre Local Government Area of Rivers State.
Speaking shortly after he cast his vote in the party’s presidential primary held Monday nationwide, Amaechi noted that he had limited information about how the contests were unfolding in other states, yet he remained hopeful that the ADC would uphold an agreement to hold a free, fair and credible primary.
The former governor of Rivers State and former Minister of Transportation urged voters to assess him on his track record in public office. He highlighted his achievements in agriculture, education, health, human capital development and power while serving as governor.
He also warned that politicians must offer concrete solutions to the nation’s challenges.
Regarding the parallel governorship candidate of the ADC in Rivers State, Amaechi emphasized that the party remains a single political entity. He stated that the candidate who receives the highest number of votes is declared the winner by the committee in the presence of INEC officers, and that no individual can unilaterally declare themselves the victor of an election in which they are a contender.
