Six of the ten African teams participating in the 2026 FIFA World Cup have qualified for the Round of 32 after the most recent set of matches.

Ghana and Cape Verde were the latest African sides to secure a place in the knockout stage following Saturday’s games.

Although Ghana still had a group match against Croatia, they advanced when Spain defeated Uruguay 1-0, a result that ensured the Black Stars a spot in the next round.

Cape Verde progressed after achieving a third straight draw, finishing second in their group behind Spain.

They join Egypt, Morocco, South Africa and Côte d’Ivoire as the African teams that have already reached the knockout stage.

Tunisia’s campaign ended after elimination from the tournament.

Senegal, Algeria and the Democratic Republic of Congo still hope to advance, but they must wait to see if their records are sufficient to qualify as one of the tournament’s best third‑placed teams.
