ABEOKUTA — Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun praised Inspector‑General of Police (IGP) Mr. Olatunji Disu for launching the joint Ogun‑Lagos security operation, Operation Kosaye. He described the initiative as bold, proactive and intelligence‑driven, noting it has markedly enhanced security in the two neighbouring states.

The governor highlighted the operation’s impressive results, which include coordinated patrols that combed forests and criminal hideouts along the Ogun‑Lagos corridor, neutralised armed bandits, arrested suspects, and rescued kidnapped victims.

In a statement signed by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Kayode Akinmade, Abiodun said Operation Kosaye has restored public confidence in the Nigeria Police Force and strengthened the resolve of security agencies to protect lives and property.

“The sustained offensive against criminal elements has effectively made Ogun and Lagos states increasingly hostile to kidnappers, bandits and other violent criminals who had attempted to exploit our shared border communities as safe havens,” the governor said.

He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to supporting security agencies with logistics, operational resources and technology to further strengthen policing across the state.

Abiodun added that continued investment in security infrastructure, surveillance technology and operational mobility complements the efforts of the Nigeria Police Force and other security agencies in maintaining peace, law and order.

The governor also commended the Commissioners of Police in Ogun and Lagos states, Bode Ojajuni and Tijani Fatai, as well as the officers and personnel who took part in Operation Kosaye, for their professionalism, courage and dedication to duty.

“The commitment and professionalism of the officers and men involved in Operation Kosaye have been instrumental to the successes already recorded. Their sacrifices continue to reassure our people that security agencies remain committed to safeguarding lives and property,” he said.

Abiodun noted that the operation demonstrated the importance of collaboration, intelligence sharing and coordinated inter‑state action in tackling emerging security threats.

“Criminal elements can only be effectively defeated when security agencies work seamlessly across jurisdictional boundaries. Operation Kosaye has shown that collaboration remains one of the most potent weapons against insecurity,” he added.

He urged other states to emulate the Ogun‑Lagos security model by establishing similar collaborative frameworks that deny criminals the opportunity to exploit state boundaries.

Abiodun reiterated that his administration would continue to prioritise security through sustained investment in logistics, technology and other operational resources.

“The protection of lives and property remains a cardinal objective of this administration, and we will continue to provide every necessary support to our security agencies to ensure Ogun State remains safe for residents and investors,” the governor stated.
